Dr. Edward De Bono explains how creativity is a skill where everyone can learn. This is where lateral thinking comes to place when the brain works systematically in the creative thinking process. Some traditional step by step methods may not work and this is where we need to think outside the box. There is a need to go beyond the problem to get new ideas and concepts to solve a problem. He explained further that it is not matter of sitting around waiting for a new idea because you can actually take a step by step method. He compared lateral thinking to traditional brainstorming and how traditional brainstorming is a weak process. To sum up, lateral thinking is where you can generate new and better ideas which can be a skill that we can learn and re-learn.
